Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes was involved in a car crash on Monday morning, The Sun reports. The Portuguese escaped unhurt and is expected to feature for the Red Devils in their Premier League encounter against Liverpool.
Reports claim the Portugal international’s Porsche, worth 94 thousand pounds, collided with another in the residential area of Dunham, Cheshire, but those at the scene report that he was able to walk away from the situation unhurt.
Furthermore, United’s interim boss Ralf Rangnick later reiterated the same and confirmed Fernandes’ availability for tomorrow’s league match against Liverpool.
“He’s training with the team. Obviously the accident happened on the way to Carrington but as far as I know nobody was injured. He trained with the team, he was OK and will be OK for tomorrow.”
Rangnick was quoted as saying by Goal.
While Fernandes is fit and available for the Liverpool tie, Rangnick did confirm five absences from Tuesday night’s encounter at Anfield. The five in question are Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw, Scott McTominay, Fred, and Edinson Cavani, with the Frenchman the likeliest candidates to feature in the game.
“He (Varane) was on the pitch with one of our rehab coaches. With regard to the injured players, it’s the same situation,”
Rangnick confirmed.
Fernandes’s availability will be a major boost for United in what is a season-defining game for both the Red Devils and their rivals Liverpool. A loss could all but end United’s quest to finish in one of the top four spots while a defeat for Jurgen Klopp’s men will significantly dent their hopes of leapfrogging Manchester City in the race for the league title.
United will go into the game on the back of a 3-2 win over bottom-placed Norwich City. Liverpool, meanwhile, will be full of confidence, too, having defeated City in the FA Cup semi-final by the same scoreline last Saturday.
