Punjab Kings lead spinner Rahul Chahar is planning in detail for each of the threats he has identified in the Mumbai Indians batting unit ahead of Wednesday’s IPL fixture at the MCA International Stadium in Pune.
Chahar said he is hoping to continue in this vein through good planning and execution against MI’s key batters such as skipper Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kieron Pollard.
“I will definitely try to give my hundred percent as always. Mainly, there are two or three batters who are challenging to bowl against that I have my eye on. Suryakumar Yadav, for instance, is in great form. Rohit, too, is a top batter,”
he told PBKS’ website.
Combining forces with them not long ago, Chahar is now planning the downfall of his ex-teammates in the MI camp.
But the young cricketer is keeping a very professional outlook on the challenge at hand and said he will leave no stone unturned in preparations.
“I am preparing well for them and looking forward to bowling to them. I am also making specific plans for all of these guys, let’s see how it goes,”
said the 22-year-old, who believes this attitude has come about due to the number of times he has come up against his brother Deepak Chahar from an early age.
The Chahar duo, Rahul revealed, has been giving each other a hard time in practice from their growing up years so as to not be found short on the ground. According to him, that has helped him develop a sense of detachment from relationships when he is about to hit the bowling mark.
Chahar lost the race for retention with MI at the end of the previous season despite being a part of their back to back triumphs. He was picked at the 2022 mega auction by the runners-up of the IPL 2014 for INR 5.25 Crores. The youngster is PBKS’ leading wicket-taker after four matches with seven scalps and a fantastic economy rate of 6.31.
