While it was taken for granted that Kylian Mbappe will be moving to Real Madrid once his contract with PSG expires in the summer, the French forward’s own latest admission has thrown a curve-ball. In his recent interview with Prime Video, the striker revealed that he hasn’t made up his mind about his future and anything, including renewing and remaining at Parc des Princes, is possible.
Although the World Cup winner has previously expressed his desire to move to Real Madrid very publicly and several European outlets already take his signing with Los Blancos for granted, Mbappe has shed more doubt following his recent words. At the post-match media interaction following the 5-1 thrashing of Ligue 1 rivals Lorient, Mbappe said he is still yet to make a decision on his future.
The Frenchman scored twice and assisted thrice as his teammates Neymar and Lionel Messi also got on the scoresheet in a wonderful display of attacking prowess. The trio all scored in the same match for PSG for the first time.
However, Mbappe’s own admission in the post-match interview quickly switched the focus back on to him.
“I haven’t made my choice. I haven’t taken my decision, I’m thinking it over, there are new elements and there are loads of factors.
“I don’t want to be wrong. I know it’s getting a bit late for people, we talk about it every day.
“I’m calm, I am trying to make the best possible decision together with my family. Had I made that decision I would’ve said it and embraced it.
Mbappe said.
Mbappe’s contract expires in June after which he will be able to leave as a free player and join any club he wishes. The player also tried desperately to leave the French capital last summer but his club rejected a 160-million-euros offer from Real Madrid in order to keep him for an additional year.
When asked about whether it’s possible to renew and stay at PSG, Mbappe said:
“Yes, of course.”
