Paganese midfielder Fernando Tissone, who played alongside Mauro Icardi at Sampdoria, has advised his compatriot to leave PSG as in the presence of Lionel Messi, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel di Maria, the striker hardly sees any game time in the Parisian outfit.
Icardi’s career has seen a steep decline ever since his exit from Inter Milan. The forward is now unwanted at PSG after moving to the club in 2020. He has been on the receiving end of several injuries and has also struggled for minutes in Paris.
The arrival of Messi effectively relegated him to the bench this season. In Messi, Neymar and Mbappe, the Parisians have a star-studded frontline and they can also count di Maria on Julian Draxler as reinforcements from the bench.
Icardi’s future at PSG is in doubt. He has been recently linked with a move to Arsenal, and Tissone is of the opinion that Icardi should leave Parc des Princes in order to secure a move to England.
“He is in a team that is not suitable for him. It is more difficult to put it into that pattern. The best choice would be to find another accommodation, another team because he is a very strong player.”
Tissone told Calciomercato.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are looking to reward the terrific and consistent performances of defender Gabriel Magalhaes with a new contract. The Brazilian centre-back had joined the Gunners from Lille for 23 million pounds in the summer of 2020.
Although he was rushed in to start against Fulham on his very first day of the season, he has hit the ground running and has hardly looked back ever since.
Gabriel was the best defender for the Gunners last season and even though he has a contract that runs until June 2025, Arsenal are considering extending it already. The report suggests that a new contract has already been discussed at the board level, and it’s only a matter of time before Gabriel will be offered the contract. He currently earns 50,000 pounds a week at the Emirates.
