Despite an undergoing change of Chelsea ownership, first-team manager Thomas Tuchel remains undeterred in his quest to lead the side to a top-four finish in the Premier League while also retaining hopes of defending the UEFA Champions League title.
The German claims that he isn’t affected by the constant commotion currently taking place in the foreground. The Blues’ boss believes it not to be his role to meddle in the aforementioned matters, especially with the season entering its most important period. When asked whether he is worried about the uncertainty surrounding the club’s future, he had this to say:
“Yes (I’m not worried) because I cannot change it,”
“Some things in life if you cannot change it, let it go and do what you can influence, doing it in the best way.
“It’s not my role right now to convince anybody and have preferences. I’m not here for this. I am happy, not involved in this.
My opinion is needed, if needed, when we adjust our expectations and the decision is made, get known to the new owners and get an idea what the new structure is if there is a new structure.”
As per widespread reports, Raine Group, the bank tasked with handling the takeover process, has shortlisted four candidates to buy the club from long-standing owner Roman Abramovich. One of the consortiums involving the Ricketts family, owners of the Major League Baseball side Chicago Cubs, has faced massive backlash over a history of distasteful comments and dubious actions.
Meanwhile, a group led by Todd Boehly is also in the race to buy the club from Abramovich, as is one involving Stephen Pagliuca, co-owner of NBA’s Boston Celtics. Another one spearheaded by Sir Martin Broughton is also hopeful of taking over the club.
