Lucknow Super Giants batter Ayush Badoni ended up hitting a female spectator straight off a maximum during the critical stage of his team’s IPL 2022 encounter played on March 31 against Chennai Super Kings.
The 22-year-old made a clean connection of an attempted sweep shot through the on-side as the ball sailed over the ropes in the mid-wicket region. But while the batter got a timely six for his team, his well-timed stroke proved harmful for this lady spectator, who was seen in visible pain after the blow.
Thankfully for this spectator, the pain from the blow died down soon as she was seen assuring her fellow spectators that she was fine when they checked for her health.
The lady was actually trying to catch the ball with her right hand when instead of finishing in her fingers, the ball ended up hitting her back. Good for her, that by the time the ball reached the stands, it would’ve lost some of the speed and force off Badoni’s bat.

The LSG and Delhi batter had hit the six off the bowling of CSK allrounder Shivam Dube. Facing him for the first ball of the penultimate over in LSG’s run-chase with 34 needed off the last 12 deliveries, Badoni got around an attempted wide yorker from the right-arm seamer and smashed it via a sweep through the mid-wicket region.
The square boundaries being relatively short at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, once Badoni found the meaty part of his willow, the ball just kept sailing past the ropes amongst the crowd where that lady was also present.
The maximum was part of his impressive little cameo of 19 not out from just nine deliveries, helping LSG scale CSK’s daunting 210/7 in an important win, their first of the tournament as league’s one of two new franchises.
This was Badoni’s second notable contribution of the 2022 season for the Giants. The youngster had also produced a skilful knock of 54 off 41 deliveries in their opening game against the Gujarat Titans.
