Barcelona have a deal each in place for Chelsea pair Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta, with the former almost certain of joining the club this summer.
The Blues are bound to lose centre-back Andreas Christensen to FC Barcelona this summer, say reports. The Danish defender is reaching the end of this contract and has been approached by the Spanish giants over the possibility of a free transfer, one which is looking increasingly likely with each passing week.
Christensen and Chelsea were locked in contract negotiations for well over six months, but a conclusion could not be reached.
As per Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona are in advanced talks with the Denmark international over a post-season transfer. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are another club interested in the Chelsea star after losing Niklas Sule to Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer – and haven’t given up the chase yet.
Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta could follow his Danish teammate to Camp Nou; the Spaniard is another player seemingly close to moving to Barcelona upon the expiration of his current contract – which also ends this summer. As per Romano, the Blaugrana are prepared to offer the Spaniard a two-year deal with an option to extend it by another 12 months, which is more than what his current club is prepared to offer him. However, both sides are willing to wait until the end of the season for the defender to make his decision.
Finally, Chelsea forward Timo Werner is being pursued by Dortmund, as per a report from Sky Germany. The Bundesliga outfit has earmarked Werner as one for the summer, but any potential deal could hinge on the situation surrounding Karim Adeyemi, who is reportedly their top target.
Werner signed for the Blues back in the summer of 2020 in a deal believed to be in the region of 50 million euros – but has failed to hit the heights he reached during his breakout season in Germany with RB Leipzig. Furthermore, the German has found playing time hard to come by this season – with the Blues spending big on forward Romelu Lukaku.
