The Reds are looking at a long-term midfield signing in the mould of Georginio Wjinaldum, who had joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer last summer. Porto midfielder Vitinha is on the club’s list for this role, reports Portuguese newspaper Record.
Liverpool are reportedly interested in Vitinha who is expected to be valued at around 40 million euros, which the club can surely afford.
The Portuguese had also spent time in the Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers and is keen to return to England.
Liverpool have only recently signed Colombian winger Luis Diaz from Porto, and he has proven to be a sensational signing thus far. Besides propping up with goal contributions, Diaz also provides fast-paced dribbles and stretches the play for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The Vitinha deal could similarly prove to be another smart purchase for Liverpool. Some reports also mention that Bayern Munich are interested in acquiring the services of the 22-year-old.
According to Sky, Liverpool have been urged the break the bank to bring outstanding young Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher to Anfield this summer. On loan at Crystal Palace, the midfielder has been performing exceedingly well. The Englishman also managed to impress in his first international start, which ended in a 2-1 friendly victory against Switzerland.
Gallagher has scored eight goals in the Premier League this season, and his contributions have ensured that Palace are far away from the relegation zone. They have also made their way through to the FA Cup semifinals, where Gallagher will not be allowed to meet his parent club due to the loan agreement.
Chelsea are in the midst of a takeover, however, which could force them to part ways with several players on loan. The London-based club was put on sale by Russian owner Roman Abramovich who faced several sanctions from the UK government for his close ties with president Vladimir Putin. The Blues are currently in the process of identifying bids before deciding on the shortlist of candidates and consortiums.
