Australian medium pacer Josh Hazlewood has been replaced by another Aussie international, Jason Behrendorff. Earlier, Josh decided to withdraw from IPL 2021, citing bio-bubble fatigue.
Chennai Super Kings have signed left-arm medium-pacer Jason Behrendorff as the replacement for Josh Hazlewood for the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League, which kick-started a day ago.
After Josh Phillipe and Mitchell Marsh decided to withdraw from the 14th edition of the IPL,
Hazlewood took a similar path and revealed he wanted to give himself “the best chance to be mentally and physically ready” for the upcoming international season.
Behrendorff made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians back in the 2019 season. The talented pacer from Australia has played 11 ODIs and seven T20Is for his country. As far as his IPL career is concerned, Jason has played five games for MI, and has picked as many wickets.
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings bought Josh Hazlewood for Rs 2 crore. The 30-year-old played three games for CSK in the last IPL season when the tournament was staged in the UAE.
Citing the reason for his withdrawal from IPL 2021, Josh said that it’s been a long ten months in bubbles and quarantine at different times, and it has been extremely tiring.
I decided to have a rest from cricket and spend some time at home and in Australia in the next two months.
Highlighting the busy international season ahead, Hazlewood said that the West Indies tour is going to be a long one. With the Bangladesh tour coming up, which will be followed by the T20 World Cup and the Ashes, it is going to be a tough and tiring 12 months.
As it always is with Australia, and I want to give myself the best chance to be mentally and physically ready for that.
the lanky fast bowler said.
Chennai Super Kings begin their campaign in the 2021 edition against previous year’s finalists Delhi Capitals on April 10 in Mumbai.
