A tweet made in prank and fun made by Rajasthan Royals social media admin felt distasteful to the franchise skipper Sanju Samson, who called out the lack of professionalism from the admin and went to the extent of reportedly unfollowing his own team.
The incident came to light on March 25 afternoon, a day before the start of IPL 2022, after RR social media admin made a post where Samson, sitting in the team bus, had his picture filtered around in a funny way.
But while some fans enjoyed the filtering of the picture and engaged with the tweet, the picture did not go down well with the player, who seems to have lost his temper as he called out the admin and deemed it unacceptable from a professional team.
At that point, some guessed Samson’s tweet may have been a part of some prank that the franchise would have planned for its fans. But then, things got serious after it emerged that they have deleted the tweet, with Samson reportedly unfollowing them.
Soon, RR franchise made a statement on the matter and indicated that their social media admin has been relieved of duties.
“In light of today’s events, we will be making some changes to our approach and team on social media. The management will revisit our overall digital strategy and appoint a new team (social media) in due course.”
the franchise wrote.
To make sure fans are regularly updated in the meantime, RR official account stated they will find “temporary” solutions for now, adding that there is no disturbance in the camp after Samson’s tweet, and they are in unison ahead of their opening game on March 29 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
RR, the inaugural IPL champions, failed to make it past the league stage once again last season, finishing seventh in the table with only five wins from their 14 matches.
