Senior Indian journalist Boria Majumdar has set in stone a legal defamation notice against experienced Indian Test keeper Wriddhiman Saha, who had allegedly received a threat from Boria after denying him an interview.

In a video posted over his Twitter handle on March 5 evening, Boria threw light on his side of the story and backed the allegation from Saha with his own, saying the player doctored their exchange over WhatsApp.

In his over eight-minute long clip, Boria alleged that Saha blurred the dates of two different exchanges he had with the player and made them seem as if they happened on the exact date. He also said Saha tried to gather sympathy by then waiting till February 19 – the day he was dropped from the Test squad – to disclose their “doctored” exchange over Twitter.

There are always two sides to a story. @Wriddhipops has doctored, tampered screenshots of my WhatsApp chats which have damaged my reputation and credibility. I have requested the @BCCI for a fair hearing. My lawyers are serving @Wriddhipops a defamation notice. Let truth prevail. pic.twitter.com/XBsiFVpskl

The statement from Boria has come to light after it emerged that Saha is about to disclose his name to the BCCI investigating committee, which is on board now to go through this exact issue.

Saha met BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal and IPL governing council member Prabhtej Bhatia, before talking to the reporters.

“I have told the committee everything I know. I have shared all the details with them. I can’t tell you much right now. BCCI has asked me not to talk about the meeting outside as they will answer all your queries,”

he was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

Saha had come up with the screenshot of Boria threatening him upon rejecting his interview plea after his sacking from India’s Test squad picked for the Sri Lanka home series. The 37-year-old made the issue public but did not name the “Respected” journalist in question at the time.

After all of my contributions to Indian cricket..this is what I face from a so called “Respected” journalist! This is where the journalism has gone. pic.twitter.com/woVyq1sOZX

Saha got support from the cricketing community, which urged him to disclose the name and shame the person involved. At that time, he said he didn’t want to reveal the name even to the BCCI.

2/3- My nature isnt such that I will harm anyone to the extent of ending someone’s career. So on grounds of humanity looking at his/her family, I am not exposing the name for the time being. But if any such repetition happens, I will not hold back.

But the setting up of a specific committee in the matter has led to a change in mind for the player, which triggered a reaction out of Boria, who made a point to unveil his version of the story and alleged Saha of trying to defame him.
