Ace Indian batsman and Delhi Capitals’ skipper Shreyas Iyer has claimed that he is excellent after shoulder surgery and will be back on the field in no time. Iyer injured his shoulder while fielding in the first ODI against England in the recently concluded three-match series.
Shreyas Iyer took to social media to announce that his surgery was a success, and he is recovering rapidly. The Delhi Capitals captain suffered a shoulder injury against England recently.
The middle-order batsman posted a post-surgery photo of him lying down on the hospital bed with a thumbs-up sign. He captioned the picture as, “surgery was a success and with lion-hearted determination, I’ll be back in no time. Thank you for your wishes.”
What came as a big blow not just for Team India but also for Delhi Capitals, batsman Shreyas Iyer had to undergo surgery on his left shoulder. He had to miss the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League.
Iyer had dived to his left in the field to stop the ball in the first ODI against England. While he did manage to cut runs off, he was holding the left shoulder in a lot of pain. He walked off holding the shoulder, and every team member was concerned after the incident.
After the injury, Iyer was taken for further scans, and it turned out to be serious. However, the energetic young cricketers seem to be recovering quickly, which is a great sign.
After Iyer was ruled out of the IPL 2021 edition, the DC management decided to name the flamboyant Rishabh Pant as the skipper of the side.Delhi Capitals will surely miss Shreyas Iyer this season as he has been able to hold the innings together for his team in the last couple of seasons on a consistent basis. Moreover, his inspired bowling changes and captaincy tactics allowed the Delhi Capitals to reach the finals in the previous season.
DC are set to play their first game of the tournament against Chennai Super Kings on April 10.
