Singaporean-turned Australian all-rounder Tim David has been in the limelight in the T20 circuit for some time now, even more so after record IPL winners Mumbai Indians secured the services of the big-hitting youngster at the 2022 IPL mega auction for Rs. 8.25 crore.
David was involved with the Royal Challengers Bangalore during the last season of the Indian Premer League, in the second leg of the tournament that took place in the UAE, coming in as a replacement in light of the prevailing situation in 2021. However, David did not get too many opportunities with the RCB, and did not have the best time at the franchise.
The 25-year-old has been dominating bowling attacks across the globe in various T20 Leagues, most recently in the Pakistan Super League, playing some blinders with the bat and contributing with the ball. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that a handful of teams were after him, and he ended up getting a huge contract at the mega auction.
The Singapore international usually bats in the middle order, and can easily change the course of the game given his tremendous hitting ability. He is also more than capable of rolling his arm over, and can also pick up wickets at regular intervals. will also tremendously benefit from his time at the Mumbai Indians, with the experienced Kieron Pollard and the likes of Rohit Sharma, who can provide valuable inputs to David.
He has expressed his excitement to face speedster Jasprit Bumrah in the nets, and considers it as a potential opportunity to test himself against some of the best in the world.
“One bowler I am looking forward to facing the most in the nets is Bumrah. I know it sounds strange because he is one of the best in the world but I believe it will be great to test myself against him. I am sure it is going to be hard work,”
the player said.
He also noted that it would be a privilege for him to be able to share the dressing room with stalwarts of the game like Pollard and Rohit, and said that he would have lots to learn from his teammates and the tournament in general.
