Having secured a 3-1 win over Norwich City on February 19, Liverpool’s midfield stars Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho were discovered watching the game between Leeds United and Manchester United at the Elland Road on Sunday. Both the footballers were seated in the hospitality box, and their presence could’ve been prompted due to a variety of reasons.
Leeds, who equalised after going two goals down just after the half-time break, eventually ended up losing the match 4-2. They will face Liverpool next on February 24. The fixture could prove to be pivotal as Jurgen Klopp’s side will look to capitalise on Manchester City dropping points and cutting the gap between them at the top of the table. If the Reds manage to win against Leeds, they will only be three points away from Josep Guardiola’s side.

Leeds conceded two goals in towards the latter stages of the first half when Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes got on the scoresheet. They battled adverse weather conditions as well as the pressure of being two goals down pretty well to bounce back on level terms inside the space of only two minutes.
Rodrigo and Raphinha managed to restore parity in the contest. However, Fred scored in the 70th minute to put United back ahead while Anthony Elanga also found the back of the net to put Leeds out of misery.
Leeds star Rodrigo, who got on the scoresheet, is reportedly a close friend of Thiago. Both their fathers, Aldaberto and Mazinho, were part of the Brazilian team that won the 1994 World Cup. Not only have both of them opted to represent Spain, they have also opened a football school together.
Besides the obvious scouting of Leeds United and observing how they play, there could also be another mysterious reason behind Thiago and Fabinho’s trip to Yorkshire. Some sources close to Liverpool believe that they had gone to watch Raphinha, who has been linked with a move to the club for a long time now. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool act on the interest given that they recently signed Luis Diaz.
