”You can’t have players doing that”: Man Utd great Schmeichel blasts Pogba

Paul Pogba got on the scoresheet in Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Burnley. However, the club’s former goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel didn’t seem impressed by his performance and slammed him for being ‘completely out of the game.’

United’s miseries continue as they suffered another blow in their race for the top four spots in the Premier League table. United could only manage a 1-1 stalemate against Burnley away from home and have now dropped to fifth position, trailing West Ham by a lone point.

Pogba was the only United player to get on the scoresheet in the game at Turf Moor. He scored in the 17th minute of the match to give Ralf Rangnick’s side the lead.

This was his first goal in a season that has been chaotic and marred with injuries. However, Jay Rodriguez restored parity for Burnley and United failed to find a way to re-take the lead as the match ended in a draw.

Although Pogba seemed extremely impressive on his return to action in Friday’s FA Cup clash against Middlesbrough, he failed to repeat those heroics against Burnley.

His situation at Old Trafford could prove to be topsy-turvy, and with less than six months remaining on his contract, anything might happen.

Old Trafford legend Schmeichel, who was extremely pleased by Pogba’s performance against Boro, slammed him for an ‘unacceptable’ performance against Burnley.

“I said before the game Pogba played fantastic on Friday night. If Pogba plays like that we want to keep him, we desperately want to keep him.

But he was completely out of the game today and you can’t have players doing that.”

the Dane told Premier League Productions, per Metro.

Schmeichel also pointed out that at United, players need to keep their focus throughout the game and cannot afford a drop in intensity.

“That’s not good enough for Man United. At Man United you’ve got to have a very, very high low-level and at a minimum you’ve got to perform to that.

You’ve got to have this type of urgency and understanding of when you need to push forward to get the goal you need. In the last 20 minutes, the way Man United played was all in the same tempo and all in the same pattern.

There were no pressure balls into Burnley’s box, there were no questions being asked,”

    he said.
