UP Yoddhas here on Wednesday beat Tamil Thailavas in the 104th game of the Vivo Pro Kabaddi League season 8. It was a close contest between the two sides as the Yoddhas managed to sail over the line in just the last minute.
Yoddhas’ win was led by Surinder Gill, who scored yet another Super 10 in the season. He got a total of 13 raid points. Pardeep also found some form as he too completed his 64th Super 10 in the tournament.
Yoddhas defence, though, wasn’t at their best as they kept on giving bonus points to the opposition, which kept Tamil Thailavas in the game even after UP inflicted two all out.
Sumit scored a High 5 for the Yoddhas, but apart from him, the other defenders found a tough going.
The raiding duties for Thailavas were yet again led by Manjeet, who took 11 raid points. He was supported well by Himanshu and Ajinkya Pawar, who scored eight and seven raid points, respectively. Sagar, the league’s top defender, got three tackle points for the Thailavas.
Thailavas were engaged in way too many unsuccessful tackles, which eventually led to their loss. This loss has put them in a tough situation as far as a position in the playoffs is concerned. UP Yoddhas’ entered the top six with this victory.
It was a case of another match and another loss for Telugu Titans as they lost to Gujarat Giants by 34-32. The Titans have been looking for their second win in the season, but it is just not going their way.
In the absence of Siddharth Desai and Rajnish scored a Super 10 yet again. However, he had to be substituted because of an injury in the second half. His absence hurt the Titans in the last five minutes as they squandered a lead of three points.
Surinder Singh did well in defence for the Titans as he clinched three tackle points for his team.
Gujarat Giants surprised everyone by not playing both Ajay Kumar and Pardeep Kumar, both of whom have done well in the raiding department for the Giants in recent matches.
The raiding department, in their absence, was led by HS Rakesh, who earned eight raid points. The main hero for the Giants on the night was their experienced defender Girish Ernak who finished with five tackle points.
This was an important victory for the Giants as they have now climbed up to the seventh spot on the points table. They have given themselves another chance to be in the race for the playoffs.
