Gujarat Giants defeat Bengal Warriors by 34-25 to win their second consecutive match in the Vivo Pro Kabaddi League season 8. Having lost their very first game after coming back from a long coronavirus-related, Manpreet Singh’s have won back to back fixtures since then.
The stars of the night for the Giants yet again were Ajay Kumar and Pardeep Kumar, who scored got seven and nine raid points, respectively.
The first half saw the lead shifting between the two sides as it ended 13-12 in favour of the Giants. Gujarat started the second half on a strong note as they inflicted an all-out on the Warriors in the 27th minute of the game. The Giants defence played like a unit as almost all their defenders got points.
The Warriors were yet again found to be too dependent on Maninder Singh. Despite his nine raid points, the side couldn’t come close to the Giants score. Bengal’s defence had a poor outing as apart from Ran Singn, who manager a High 5, none of the other defenders could do much.
The Giants after this win moved up one place in the points table on 10th, as they now have 38 points from 14 games.
The Bulls, in turn, managed to take their revenge on the Yoddhas, on the third day of the rivalry week.
The Bulls played like a single unit as Pawan Kumar Sherawat got the support from his team, which was missing from the last six games, when the Bulls had won just once.
Pawan in the raiding department scored nine raid points and got support from his defenders as Aman picked up a High 5, scoring a total of seven tackle points. Saurabh Nandal also chipped in with three tackle points.
For the Yoddhas, although their defence played well, their raiders could perform at all. Pardeep Narwal and Surinder Gill could only manage six raid points combined.
In defence, though, the likes of Nitesh Kumar and Sumit did well as Nitesh picked up six tackle points and Sumit picked up four tackle points.
After this win, the Bulls now have 51 points from 17 games. They are behind Dabang Delhi KC, on the second position in the points table.
