Gujarat Giants were making a comeback in Vivo Pro Kabaddi League season 8 as they had a coronavirus scare in the camp. But unlike the Patna Pirates, who also went through a similar ordeal, the Giants looked jittery on the mat as they lost their game against Dabang Delhi KC by 41-22.
The giants never looked like they were in the game as Delhi, even without injured Naveen Kumar and Ajay Thakur, came in with a lot to prove. The Delhi-based franchise inflicted an all-out on the Giants within the first 10 minutes of the game itself. The Giants just couldn’t recover from this all out at all. At the end of the first half, Delhi led the Giants by 22-11.

The Giants tried to find their way back in the game, but Dabang Delhi were in no mood to give them an inch as Manjeet Chillar and Krishnan saved Delhi from an all-out by pulling off two consecutive super tackles. This increased Delhi’s lead and ended all the hopes of the Giants of making a comeback.
The major reason for Delhi’s win was the performance by their defence, as both Manjeet and Krishan scored their first High 5s of the season. The raiding duties were led by Vijay, who scored eight raid points, ably supported by Ashu Malik with six raid points and Neeraj Narwal with four points after coming on as a substitute.
The Gujarat Giants looked jaded as none of their three raiders looked in good touch, as only Pardeed Kumar managed seven raid points. The defence of the Giants seemed didn’t arrive on the mat at all, as none of Sunil, Pravesh or Girish could manage more than two tackle points.
After this win, DDKC now stand at top of the points table after 14 games, while the Giants are languishing at the 11th position.
