Crystal Palace are exploring a loan move for Manchester United midfielder Donny Van De Beek ahead of the transfer window deadline. Meanwhile, Jesse Lingard’s proposed move to Newcastle United has broken down.

The Red Devils are still involved in several transfer dealings as the winter window approaches its conclusion. They have already sanctioned Anthony Martial’s loan departure to Sevilla and, as per The Athletic, have also faced loan inquiries for Donny Van de Beek and Jesse Lingard.

Crystal Palace are keen to take Van de Beek on loan for the remainder of the season, says a report. The Dutchman moved to Old Trafford in summer 2020 for 35 million pounds following his breakthrough at Ajax, but he has since been used as a bit-part player by Ralf Rangnick and his predecessor, the manager who signed him, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The 24-year-old is yet to start a league game this season, although he has featured regularly in European and cup competitions from the start.

Talks between the two clubs regarding Van de Beek’s loan are ongoing. The player is rumored to be open to a move away temporarily, although Palace aren’t likely to retain the option to buy him outright in the summer. Everton, too, were reportedly interested in the midfielder last summer, but United decide against releasing him on that occasion.

One player expected to stay at Old Trafford beyond the January 31st deadline is Lingard. The Athletic reports that while talks had taken place between relevant parties regarding Lingard’s loan transfer to Newcastle United for the remainder of the season, those have since broken down.

The Englishman had even received approval from manager Rangnick but discussions stalled as the Magpies were unwilling to give in to Manchester United’s demands and pay a sizeable loan fee for the player – one who has just six months left on his contract.

It remains to be seen if Newcastle return for the player or Manchester United’s stance softens. The Red Devils have already knocked back similar approaches from West Ham United, Everton, and Tottenham Hotspur, all of whom had expressed an interest in the player during the ongoing transfer window – or the previous summer.
