Former Telugu Titans head coach Srinivas Reddy has been very critical about captain Rohit Kumar’s performance in the ongoing Pro Kabaddi League season.
Telugu Titans’s 27-28 defeat to Bengal Warriors in the PKL8 match 61 meant they lost their eighth game this season and are still winless after 10 games. The only saving grace for them is that they have not lost all their fixtures and have managed two ties.
The league has reached its halfway stage, and the Titans are very unlikely to find a place in the top six to qualify for the playoffs. They currently stand at the 12th position with just 12 points.
The loss against Bengal Warriors by just one point must hurt the Titans very much as they were head to head with Warriors for the most part of the game. This was despite some key players missing from their team.

Siddhart Desai has been nursing an injury, and hence he hasn’t participated in most part of the season, which is the reason for the Titans dismal outing in the league so far.
But for a unit led by Rohit Kumar, who was the MVP in season 3 when Patna Pirates won their first title, better results were expected from the Titans. But Rohit too, himself isn’t fully fit and has not even been his pale shadow in the league so far.

In an interview with Sportskeeda, Ex-Telugu Titans coach Srinivas Reddy stated that Rohit’s injury is letting the team down. He stressed on the point that Rohit’s presence on the mat isn’t making any difference to the teams’ cause, so it won’t be a bad idea if a youngster replaces him.
“Rohit has to build confidence with the management and the coach, he should improve in those areas. You need to give the coach some confidence to make combinations and then Rohit should prove himself.
Even if he scores 4-5 points, it is vital for the Titans. Right now he is not raiding enough, he is only standing on the mat and not making an impact,”
Reddy was quoted as saying.
“Being a captain, he’s not giving the correct inputs, it doesn’t make a difference if he’s playing or not. Instead of him, a youngster can come and perform better.
The management has to take that call. He’s wasting one place and damaging a youngster’s future,”
he added.
Rohit missed the game against Warriors because of an injury, and Titans almost pulled off a victory. It doesn’t seem a bad idea for Rohit to take his time to get to full fitness and then get back to the mat.
