Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t expecting this kind of a debacle when he made a move back to Old Trafford from Juventus. With the club unsure of confirming Champions League position for next season, it seems like the Portuguese star could make a move out elsewhere and his agent Jorge Mendes has been informed of the same.
According to the Sun, the five-time Ballon d’Or recipient is unhappy with the current situation at the club and is very stressed about the situation. Back in August, Ronaldo was reportedly offered to Manchester City by his agent Jorge Mendes, and it seemed like the move was about to be completed, but in the final moments, United swooped in to re-sign their former hero.
The 37-year-old has scored 14 goals since returning to the Premier League and is their leading goal-scorer for this season. However, the club currently finds itself seventh in the league, four points behind the fourth-placed Arsenal, who have played one game more.
“Cristiano is very concerned about what is happening at United. The team is receiving a lot of criticism and he knows he is regarded as one of the leaders. There are quite a lot of problems and Cristiano is feeling the pressure and is very stressed by the situation,”
The Sun reported.
Another facet impacting Ronaldo’s future at this club is the presence of current interim manager Ralf Rangnick. The German manager, known for his rigorous training routines, has not gotten along well with the players, and plenty of media houses have been reporting existing unrest at the club.
The discomfort and unease among fans intensified after a humiliating 0-1 defeat to Wolverhampton at Old Trafford, who won at this stadium for the first time in 42 years. United’s approach has been widely criticised, and with the players not able to feed the forward line properly, there have been plenty of complaints from fans about the 4-2-2-2 formation adapted by Rangnick.
There were some rumours of Barcelona trying to lure the footballer in for next season, but considering his attachment with Real Madrid, that might not be a possibility.
