Punjab Kings head coach and Director of Cricket Operations Anil Kumble is highly impressed with Shahrukh Khan’s prowess to smash the ball out of the park. Lauding the youngster from Tamil Nadu, Kumble compared him with T20 veteran Kieron Pollard.
Former Indian skipper Anil Kumble claimed that Shahrukh Khan carries a skillset like the Mumbai Indian’s power hitter Kieron Pollard. The 25-year-old big-hitter from Chennai is known for smacking sixes at will. His heroics in the Tamil Nadu Premier League fetched him a hefty contract in the 2021 auction.
Kumble said that Khan reminds him a bit of Pollard. Mentioning about the time when he was with Mumbai Indians, the former leg spinner said that he used to bowl a bit in the nets to Pollard and the first thing he used to tell him was not to hit straight.
Here I’m not even trying. I’m a lot older now, and the body doesn’t take bowling anymore. So, I’m not going to bowl at Shahrukh, for sure,
he added.
Shahrukh Khan said that he was greatly surprised after franchises battled hard in the auction to rope him in their respective teams.
Talking about the time when the bidding was on, Shahrukh said the auction started at around 3 PM and he was practising at the Holkar Stadium at that time.
I still remember sitting on the first seat and my name came up. My heart started pumping, but I didn’t expect it to rise as much as it did,
Shahrukh Khan added.
Shahrukh claimed that it is impressive to be around such stalwarts of the game in the Punjab Kings camp.
I am getting to learn a lot,
Shahrukh Khan said.
