DC skipper Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the entire IPL 2021 season due to a shoulder injury he sustained in a match against England. Recent reports suggest that Iyer will get his entire salary despite not featuring in a single game in the complete season.
Days before the IPL 2021 was about to kick start, Shreyas Iyer sustained a shoulder injury while playing against England and was ruled out of the three-match One Day International series.
Despite this, the right-hander will still receive his entire IPL salary for the upcoming season.
A report by Sportskeeda stated that Iyer will be paid despite picking up the shoulder injury while representing the Indian team at the international stage.
The report stated that according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s player Insurance policy, Iyer is entitled to be compensated completely.
According to the policy, which was established in 2011, centrally contracted players are allowed to get compensated if they miss out on the IPL season due to an injury. The report also stated that a clause will allow Iyer to receive his entire salary of Rs 7 crores since he was representing the country when he injured his shoulder.
The Indian cricketer partially dislocated his shoulder while trying to save some runs for his side. With Iyer ruled out of the upcoming season following his injury, the Delhi Capitals named Rishabh Pant as the skipper of the side for the entire IPL 2021 season. It would be interesting to see how the Ricky Ponting-Pant duo manages things for Capitals this season.
