The multi-format Women’s Ashes series is preponed by a week, now slated to begin with three T20Is from January 20.

The Women’s Ashes, which was scheduled to kick off from January 27, will now start a week earlier in order to allow the players more time to complete their mandatory quarantine period for the ODI World Cup in March.

The multi-format series will kick off with three T20 internationals ahead of the one-off Test on January 20, 22 and 23. North Sydney Oval was set to host two of the three matches but now the entire T20 leg has been moved to Adelaide.

The one-off Test will take place at the same venue and same timeframe as previously scheduled. Australia and England will meet at Manuka Oval in Canberra for the Test, from January 27-30.

Three ODIs will then be played on February 3, 6 and 8, with the first one taking place at Manuka Oval while the remaining two at Junction Oval in Melbourne.

Overall, the Ashes will now conclude 11 days earlier than originally scheduled, giving players from both parties ample time to quarantine and prepare for the World Cup in New Zealand.

The A series has also been rejigged with three T20s in Adelaide followed by three One-Dayers in Canberra.

“We have needed to make changes to the schedule and we’re grateful to all parties for their flexibility in ensuring that both Australia and England can travel to New Zealand with sufficient time to complete their mandatory quarantine period ahead of what will be an exciting tournament for both teams,”

said Nick Hockley, Cricket Australia CEO.

The English team led by Heather Knight was slated to depart for the Australia tour on January 7 as planned. Australia should name their squad by next week and assemble three days before the series kicks off.

The Women’s ODI World Cup will begin on March 4, and anyone traveling to New Zealand is required to undergo a minimum 10-day quarantine.
