The Pro-Kabaddi League produced an action-packed evening once again as the Puneri Paltan brought an end to their losing streak with a win against the Gujarat Giants, whereas the Telugu Titans suffered a narrow loss at the hands of Dabang Delhi.
PP notched up a much-needed win on Wednesday evening as they humbled the Gujarat Giants by a 33-26 scoreline. The Pune-based team had suffered a hat-trick of losses before coming into this match, but a Super 10 from their star raider Mohit Goyat helped them in getting just their second victory of the season.
Pune’s win wouldn’t have been possible without the contribution of two other players. Aslam Inamdar scored eight points from just four raids, whereas Vishwas S scored a valuable three as well.
As far as things for Gujarat go, Ajay Kumar was their star performer of the night as he recorded a Super 10, too. Rakesh Sungroya earned vital eight points, but both of their performances went in vain as the duo didn’t find enough support from the other players.
Dabang Delhi continue their unbeaten run in PKL8
The Telugu Titans came very close to registering their first victory of this edition, but they fell short by just a solitary point once again. It was really disheartening for raider Rajnish Dalal who lost despite scoring 20 points single-handedly for his team.
There was just not enough support for him from the other players as the Titans lost by a 36-35 scoreline.
Surinder Singh and Ankit Beniwal did score four and three points, respectively, but that didn’t turn out to be enough when compared to Dalal’s Herculean effort.
If it was Dalal for the Titans, it was Naveen Kumar who came up with an equally breathtaking effort for Delhi, scoring 25 points from 15 raids and ensuring his side a victory. Other players like Manjeet Chillar and Jeeva Kumar chipped in with small contributions as well to make the win possible for DDKC.
