The sides locked horns for the first time after their encounter in the PKL season seven final, where the Warriors defeated Dabang Delhi to clinch their first PKL title. Dabang Delhi were out for redemption tonight, and they dominated BW in a 52-35 win, retaining their top spot on the points table.
Naveen Kumar was exceptional for the table toppers, scoring his career-best performance registering 24 points to his name. Naveen was nothing short of exceptional tonight and got tackled just once throughout the entire forty minutes of the contest.
Naveen was supported by Vijay Malik, who also super his first super ten this season. The Dabang Delhi defence was all over the Bengal Warriors, and except for Maninder Singh and Sukesh Hegde no other player was able to breach DD.
Maninder Singh tried his best to keep his team in the game with sixteen points to his name, but the player did not receive any support from his defensive unit, who just bowed down to Kumar and Vijay Malik in defence.
With his stunning performance against the Warriors, Naveen has become the first raider to cross the fifty-point milestone this season in just four games and is currently on top of the best raiders this season with sixty-six points to his name.
UP Yoddha fight back to hold Gujarat Giants on to a draw
The second game between UP Yoddha and Gujarat Giants saw the much-awaited return of Pardeep Narwal, as the star player was finally back in his renowned form helping his side hold the Giants to a draw at the end of the final whistle.
Gujarat Giants coach Manpreet Singh was seen fuming from the sidelines as his defensive unit threw the game away in the final minutes of the game, with advanced tackle mistakes that could have been easily avoided.
Narwal was the top raider for UP Yoddha, scoring 11 points after being contained by the Gujarat defence for the first ten minutes. UP will be happy with three points on the points table, as they narrowly escaped defeat tonight at the hands of the Gujarat Giants.
Gujarat will be disappointed after the draw as they were in complete control of the game fans will hope that Manpreet and co. can bounce back from the minor setback.
