SRH official Twitter handle took a potshot at David Warner after the player doubted they will have a good mega auction.
The relationship between David Warner and his former IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad turned sour during the 2021 edition. The Australian has been vocal on social media about his mistreatment from the management, especially Tom Moody. The saga took an ugly turn when both parties had potshots at each other on social media.
On Tuesday, after Moody tweeted about Australia’s dominant victory over England in the Ashes, an SRH fan requested him to have a good outing in the upcoming mega auction. Warner quoted that tweet and notoriously said, “Baha doubt it.”
This didn’t go down well with the franchise as their official handle soon responded back. They first congratulated Warner on the Ashes victory and went on to say that he is back to drinking form and must be enjoying the after-party.
This wasn’t a good look on the franchise, who had not even tweeted a thank you message after their seven-year association came to an end. The Sunrisers only retained Kane Williamson, Umran Malik and Abdul Samad ahead of the 2022 mega auction.
During the 2021 edition, SRH had removed Warner from captaincy and subsequently dropped him from the playing XI. This treatment seems very ungrateful considering everything the player has done for the franchise.
Warner led the side to their only championship in the IPL and boasts of an incredible record for them. The Aussie dynamite has amassed 4014 runs for SRH at a mind-boggling average of 49.6 and strike rate of 142.6. Warner is also the only player in the history of the league to produce six consecutive seasons of 500+ runs.
After getting dropped from the SRH side, Warner had a spectacular T20 World Cup, where he amassed 289 runs from seven games and was subsequently named player of the tournament.
The 35-year-old could be bagged by one of the two new IPL franchises as a draft pick or could well head into the auction, where he is likely to fetch a huge amount.
