Ambati Rayudu has been one of the most accomplished names in Indian cricket for nearly two decades now. Despite not reaching the scales he was tipped to at the international level, the 36-year-old certainly made his mark in the IPL in his stints with Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. Rayudu is a 5-time IPL winner and will be in demand when the mega auction arrives.
However, the 36-year-old, who is currently plying his trade with the Andhra side in domestic cricket, is expecting Chennai Super Kings to re-purchase him in the auction. Rayudu joined the franchise in 2018 and played a crucial role in helping the side win the title. He got 602 runs for them in that season, also managed to score the winning runs in the final against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
In total, he played 61 games for the franchise and scored 1,500 runs at an average just shy of 35. In an interview with MyKhel, he said that the Chennai-based franchise has a special place in his life and will love to represent them once again in 2022. He also pointed out that the comeback season in 2018 was pretty special, and winning it in the end made it ever more special.
”I would definitely love to play for CSK. Formally, there has not been any communication with me so far, But I am hoping to get picked by them and have a successful league again.
Dhoni bhai has had the impact of getting the best out of me, not only me but he has an impact on everyone and brings the best performance out of everyone in the team. That is why he is the best captain India has ever had,”
he stated.
Rayudu also expressed that not getting picked in the 2019 World Cup was the biggest disappointment of his career. Despite scoring a lot of runs in the Premier League and getting some international matches before the big tournament, it came as a surprise that he did not make the cut.
He hasn’t featured for the national side since playing against Australia in the home series just before the 2019 World Cup.
