Anthony Martial has asked for permission to leave Manchester United, manager Ralf Rangnick has confirmed. Sevilla are keen on the Frenchman, and reports claim that the La Liga outfit has submitted a loan offer, which the Red Devils have rejected.
The France international held talks with the new manager, relaying his agents’ comments from earlier this month that he indeed wants to make a change. However, Rangnick did not confirm whether or not the club would grant Martial his wish.
In the wake of Martial’s declaration, Sevilla are thought to have made an offer for the Frenchman’s services to Manchester United. As per Sky Sports, the LaLiga title challengers are keen to sign Martial on loan until the end of the season but have refrained from including an option or an obligation to buy him outright at the end of the loan period.
According to The Athletic, United have rejected Sevilla’s offer, which proposed the Spanish club paying half his wages until the end of the season. Instead, the Red Devils demand that Martial’s suitors pay his entire 240,000 pounds weekly wage on top of a loan fee.
Martial signed for Manchester United from AS Monaco as a teenager in 2015. He has since made 268 appearances for the club and scored 79 goals. 2019/20 was the Frenchman’s most prolific season by far, as he scored 23 times in 48 appearances. However, his production has gradually declined since; he scored seven goals in 36 appearances last season and has a single goal from 10 features this season.
