New Zealand international Trent Boult, who is also a part of the Mumbai Indians during the Indian Premier League, heaped praises on his franchise captain Rohit Sharma. He mentioned that Rohit performs incredibly well under pressure and is a master tactician. Boult has been a crucial part of the franchise since joining them in 2020, helping them win the title in his first season.
In an interview, Boult spoke about the prospect of Rohit leading the Indian team across the limited overs format. He mentioned that he enjoyed Rohit’s captaincy during their time with the five-time IPL winners and said the Indian side will do well under his leadership. The incredible duo of Boult and Jasprit Bumrah proved to be one of the finest bowling pairs in the torunament.
“I used to observe him and his captaincy, his tactics while standing at the boundary. He’s been an extremely successful player for India and I’m sure the team will perform well under his leadership.
He has been extremely successful for Mumbai Indians and there are high-pressure situations there, he deals with this pressure well. I am sure Rohit will use his IPL experience towards the benefit of the Indian team,”
Boult said in an interview with Dainik Jagran.
Talking about Virat Kohli as captain, he mentioned that he never had the chance to play under him, but he was sure India will find great success in the future with him at the helm.
Rohit was announced as the ODI captain when the chairman of selectors announced the squads for the tour of South Africa. The news did not go down well with a lot of fans as they felt Virat wasn’t treated properly.
There were reports which suggested rifts between both Test and limited overs skippers, but Kohli denied that in the press conference just before the side left for SA.
The Test series between the Proteas and India will begin on Boxing Day at the Supersport Park, Centurion.
