Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins said he admired the passion and aggression former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Gautam Gambhir brought to the table as captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Under Gambhir’s leadership, KKR clinched the prestigious IPL title in the 2012 and 2014 seasons. Cummins, who had his first IPL in 2014, said he enjoyed playing under Gambhir’s captaincy. On his Instagram story, Cummins stated that his favourite IPL moment was winning the title that year.
Favourite moment was my first IPL in 2014 with Kolkata winning the title and then going to next day and see hundreds of thousands of fans on street going crazy,
said Cummins in a video posted on social media.
Enjoyed playing under GG (Gautam Gambhir) he was always really aggressive as a captain which I loved,
he added.
Pat Cummins reveals who he loves watching bowl
KKR speedster Cummins also responded to a fan query about which fast-bowler among the current crop he loves watching bowl. Cummins replied with the names of Mumbai Indians (MI), spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and KKR’s own young quick Kamlesh Nagarkoti.
I like watching Bumrah bowl and in KKR youngster Kamlesh Nagarkoti,
he said.
Cummins, who re-entered in the KKR set-up last year after being picked at the IPL 2020 auction for a sum of INR 15.5 crores – the most expensive bid for a foreign player in IPL – has taken 29 wickets from 30 matches in his overall career in the league, while conceding 8.09 runs per over.
Last season, Cummins played all of KKR’s 14 matches and returned with 12 scalps at an average of 34.08 and an economy rate of 7.86 in traditionally spin-friendly conditions in UAE.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will begin their IPL 2021 campaign on April 11 in Chennai against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), two days after the tournament kickstarts on April 9.
