With 18 days to go for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League, the official broadcasters Star Sports released its official anthem.
It was only a little over four months ago that the 13th season of the IPL finished. The tournament was moved to the United Arab Emirates due to the COVID-19. Before the dust has settled, we are back in the build-up to the 14th season. IPL 2021 is all set to kickstart on the 9th of April, and the preparations have begun.
Official broadcasters Star Sports have already started a big build-up to the Indian T20 extravaganza. On Tuesday, they dropped an official anthem titled ‘India Ka Apna Mantra’.
The song features some of the top Indian stars like Virat Kohli (RCB), Rohit Sharma (MI) and KL Rahul (KXIP). In fact, there was one representative from each of the eight IPL teams.
Apart from the Indian star trio, Rishabh Pant (DC), Krishnappa Gowtham (CSK), Riyan Parag (RR), Shubman Gill (KKR), and Wriddhiman Saha (SRH) made their presence felt in the song.
The opening game of the 2021 season will be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will take on three-time finalists, Royal Challengers Bangalore.
All 60 games of the tournament, including the playoffs, will be played across six cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. No team will get to play matches at their home venues.
The tournament will kick off behind closed doors, but the BCCI representatives hope the COVID-19 situation will allow them to get the fans into the stadiums in the latter half of the season.
