Former Juventus manager Fabio Capello was showering praises on Chelsea’s German manager Thomas Tuchel after his side registered a resounding 4-0 win against Juventus at the Stamford Bridge.
The Champions of Europe swept the floor quite remarkably with their workrate and skill, leaving the Old Lady with no chance to answer. Juventus had won the reverse fixture and had already confirmed their qualification before the ball got rolling in London, but despite that safety net, it was a pretty underwhelming performance from the two-time champions of the tournament.
Capello was thoroughly impressed with the way the Blues had approached this game and was in total awe of the brilliance they showed on the pitch. He also complimented Jurgen Klopp in the process, for playing a brand of football that includes high pressing and great proactivity with their forward movement.
“I think this was a real lesson in football from Chelsea. Let’s take Liverpool for example, they play aggressively and vertically. And tonight we saw Chelsea press, run and never pass the ball backwards. They never start from the back, instead they are always proactive, always forward, no passes to the goalkeeper.
“In Italy you play too much with the goalkeeper. I think they are two German coaches, maybe we need to learn from them and update ourselves. When there is great intensity and competitive spirit and you are not used to it, it becomes difficult,”
said ex-England head coach during his punditry duties with Sky Sports Italia.
Capello also stated that the Italian league right now is not up to the mark with respect to pace and rhythms of high-octane football.
Juventus currently are in a spot of bother in the league scenario, where they find themselves in the eigth spot, a staggering 11 points short of table toppers Napoli and AC Milan. Silverware seems to be a far-fetched proposition for their unit as it stands, but Massimiliano Allegri’s presence keeps them hoping.
