The time has officially run out for Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who will be offered his marching orders from the club hierarchy on Sunday. Having suffered a 4-1 defeat in the hands of Watford on Saturday, an emergency morning meeting was called with Matt Judge and Joel Glazer present.

The decision to sack the manager has been made, as mentioned by Fabrizio Romano and an official announcement will be on its way soon. The club is finalizing the compensations and other legal documentation as it stands, before they can part ways with the club legend as respectfully as possible.

United have been under the pump ever since they lost to Liverpool 5-0 at Old Trafford. The manager has been under pressure since then, but a 3-0 win against Tottenham seemed to have made things a little better temporarily. However, disappointing results in the Champions League and some unwarranted defeats to lower table teams in the league have left the fans frustrated.

17 – Manchester United have won just 17 points in their opening 12 league games this season; their second-worst start to a Premier League campaign, ahead of only 2019-20 when they had 16 points under Ole Gunnar Solskjær. Theme. pic.twitter.com/EwgDgAgzXX

On Saturday, Solskjaer’s men conceded four goals to a struggling Watford unit, which only worsened their woes. They have now won just one of their last seven Premier League games, which doesn’t reflect well on the club’s stature.

After the embarrassing 4-1 defeat, Solskjaer reiterated his confidence in the team to turn things around, but as it turns out, this defeat to Claudio Ranieri’s men has put the final nail in his coffin.

“I always have belief in myself. Of course at the moment it’s a difficult time for us. I can trust every single one out there to give their all. The staff are fantastic, but the results are difficult. I believe we can turn this around.

Watford away from home, you need to give them a harder time than we did. They outfought us, we allowed them to put the ball in our box too easily. There are so many things that can go wrong in football and too many did in the first half,”

    Solskjaer said.

The Norwegian was appointed as interim manager after Jose Mourinho was sacked in December 2018. An impressive run of results saw him become permanent manager, but having gone two full seasons without a trophy, the club decided to give him one final go this season. With expected results not coming their way, the club is now looking at interim options before appointing a permanent manager.
