In a rather surprising turn of events, PSG women’s star Aminata Diallo was detained by the French police in connection with the assault that happened on her and Kheira Hamraoui, where a pair of armed men in their car attacked the ladies. The incident happened shortly after Diallo and Hamraoui attended a dinner organized by the club officials.
According to L’Equipe, both players were dragged out of their car by masked men, not far away from the Bois de Boulogne restaurant where the dinner event took place. The attack reportedly lasted several minutes, and it left one of the two injured.
Hamraoui was hit on the leg with an iron bar, whilst Diallo escaped unhurt from the assault. The former Barcelona and Lyon star also needed stitches to her hands and legs after the attack. The club released a statement saying that the 26-year-old footballer was detained by the police in order to further the investigation:
“Paris Saint-Germain notes the detention this morning of Aminata Diallo by the SRPJ (police) in Versailles in connection with an ongoing investigation into the assault on Thursday night of players from the club,”
The Parisians also confirmed that necessary steps were taken by their security team to ensure all the women associated with PSG will be protected from such incidents in the future.
Hamraoui missed PSG’s clash against Real Madrid in the Champions League at the Parc de Princes, where the hosts ran away with a 4-0 victory. Diallo made her way into the squad with the former Barcelona star missing out, but remained on the bench and didn’t make an appearance.
Both Diallo and Hamraoui are well-recognized faces in the club, with the former joining from Guingamp in 2016 and the latter was a part of the record-breaking Barcelona unit that stormed away with the Spanish league title and the Champions League.
Hamraoui, the French international, had previously spent four seasons with PSG from 2012 to 2016, before making some big money moves to Lyon, and then Barca. The 31-year-old brought in tons of experience to the midfield of PSG, and is expected to play a massive role in the coming games once she recovers from the minor injuries she picked up.
