Barcelona are hoping to present new head coach Xavi with two new attacking talents, with the Spanish pair of Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo in their sights. Meanwhile, Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi.
Financially-stricken Barcelona are hoping to bring in more attacking talents to help new head coach Xavi Hernandez and save their season. After a tumultuous start to the campaign, the Blaugrana lie ninth in the league, their misery compounded by a strict wage cap and the loss of talisman Lionel Messi.
Nonetheless, if the report from Mundo Deportivo is to be believed, Barcelona will attempt to sign Spain internationals Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo in the coming months. Torres, who previously played for Valencia, is currently at Manchester City whilst Olmo, a La Masia graduate, is at RB Leipzig following a stint at Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb.
The report reveals that Barcelona attempted to sign Olmo on the final day of the summer 2021 window, submitting a loan offer with an obligation to buy at its end. However, the offer was declined by Leipzig. Barcelona are reportedly still interested in the versatile forward, who can play across the front line like Torres.
Meanwhile, Barcelona’s rivals Real Madrid are looking for a midfield ‘destroyer’ with Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi a target, reveals Fichajes. The report states that Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is dissatisfied with the performances of holding midfielder Casemiro and has asked for a new midfielder, despite both Eduardo Camavinga and Antonio Blanco being able to play in that position.
Having grown into one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, Ndidi is expected to cost Real in the region of 60 million euros. The Nigerian has been linked with Manchester United in the past, while Madrid have kept an eye on him for the last three years. Although Leicester would prefer to hold onto their key man until the summer, they could be forced to sell the 24-year-old if a big offer arrives in the upcoming winter window.
