As part of the Kalinga Warriors’ Global Football Alliance initiative, Odisha FC announced a strategic partnership with Brazil’s Avai Futebol Clube on Friday.
Avai FC is a Brazilian football club based in Florianopolis in Santa Catarina. The club’s history dates back almost 100 years, and the club is known for producing talented players who have gone on to shine at the highest level.
The partnership will help in the growth of Odisha’s global presence. It will mainly focus on the development of young players. Moreover, the tie-up will also enhance the commercial opportunities on the international stage.
“I am sure that, in the coming years, this partnership will help the footballers from Odisha to enhance their skills. Odisha will provide all support for the partnership to be successful,”
said R Vineel Krishna, Commissioner-cum- secretary, Sports and Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha.
2010 World Cup winner, David Villa, who is the head of Global Football Operations at Odisha, said:
“For Odisha FC, the agreement with Avaí Futebol Clube generates great access to this unlimited source of talent, especially with the background of Avaí in developing youth players,”
The partnership includes sharing technical data, working with basic categories, training, and even exchanging players. This relationship will put all professionals from Avaí’s technical group and from the youth setup available to develop the football scene in Odisha.
Avai FC has a rich history in youth football development and is a training club recognized by the Brazilian Football Confederation, with the revelation of youngsters for the main team and national team, which can assist in this process.
