Table-toppers Chelsea dropped points at home, whilst Manchester City ran past Manchester United in a 2-0 win, which so easily could’ve been far more. Norwich got their first win of the league season whilst Southampton continue to fight against the tide to keep themselves in the top tier.

United were off to a horrible start, with Joao Cancelo’s fizzed-in cross taking a deflection of Eric Bailly, straight past David de Gea. Towards the final few minutes of the first half, once again it was a Cancelo cross that trouble the United backline, with Bernardo Silva sneaking past a ball-watching defense with a brilliant run and squeezing a second for City.

De Gea made plenty of saves to keep the side in the hunt, but United were pretty poor going forward, collecting just four touches in the opponent box. They had only one shot on target in the 25th minute. The result leaves them with their 3rd home defeat of the season.

Much to the disappointment of Chelsea, they dropped points on a day when their fellow contenders took crucial points. Kai Havertz opened the scoring just past the half-hour mark, who headed a brilliant cross from the right-flank by Reece James. Towards the end of the game, Matej Vydra took advantage of the ball headed into his path by Jay Rodriguez, and slotted home an equalizer as the game ended 1-1, making the hosts lose crucial points.

25 – Chelsea had 25 shots in their 1-1 draw with Burnley, their most in a Premier League home game they failed to win since August 2015 against Crystal Palace (26 shots, lost 2-1). Blue.

Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace are flying now in the league, registering comprehensive win against Wolverhampton. After a goalless first half, Wilfred Zaha scored a fantastic goal, which involved some VAR drama, but was eventually given to him. In the 78th minute, Conor Gallagher made it 2-0 with a wicked deflection off Jose Sa, earning them a place in the top ten temporarily.

Brentford, quite surprisingly, went down to Norwich at their home. City were off to a spectacular start, with Mathias Normann teed off a mistake from Ivan Toney and scored in the 6th minute.

Charlie Goode conceded a penalty 20 minutes later, which was converted by Teemu Pukki. The home side fought back with a goal at the hour mark coming from Rico Henry, but the Canaries saw the game off and won it 1-2.

0 – Newcastle – the only Premier League side without a victory – are on their longest ever winless run from the beginning of a league campaign. Brighton’s brilliant start to their fixture against Newcastle was halted by a late goal from Isaac Hayden, which saw the game finish 1-1 at the Amex Stadium. Robert Sanchez was sent off for Brighton at the end, with his rash challenge on Callum Wilson in the stoppage time earning him a straight red.

Things kicked off with a game between Southampton and Aston Villa on Saturday. Adam Armstrong scored just in the third minute for the Saints, and they managed to hold that lead until the end, making Ralph Hassenhuttl earn yet another crucial win in his hunt to keep the side in the top division.
