RB Leipzig and Paris Saint Germain played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in their latest UEFA Champions League clash. Elsewhere, dominant Manchester City brushed aside Club Brugge with a 4-1 win.
Former Paris Saint-Germain midfiedler Cristopher Nkunku put RB Leipzig in front against the Parisiens in the eighth minute as he scored with a diving header from the centre of the box, converting a cross from striker Andre Silva.
Silva himself had the opportunity to double Leipzig’s lead just a couple of minutes later as he was brought down inside the box by Danilo Pereira. However, he had his effort saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma.
PSG capitalized on Leipzig’s inability to kill the game off while on top, and they were level in the 21st minute. Neymar and Kylian Mbappe combined to deadly effect before the latter squared the ball inside the box to Georginio Wijnaldum for his first PSG goal since his summer arrival.
The Dutchman doubled his tally not long after, as he headed the ball in at the back post from a corner to put PSG ahead, 2-1.
Leipzig, persistent in their efforts for an equalizer, were awarded another penalty in second-half stoppage time after Presnel Kimpembe bundled over Nkunku. Dominik Szoboszlai stepped up to take the kick and squeezed it into the corner despite Donnarumma diving the right way.
Manchester City put in a dominant display, as they brushed aside Club Brugge without too many difficulties. Phil Foden put the Citizens in front with just 15 minutes played, as he scored at the back post from a cross by Joao Cancelo.
Brugge equalized almost instantly, as Charles De Ketelaere’s cross flicked off of Bernardo Silva, hit John Stones in the face, and nestled into the net.
City, however, punished Brugge with their ruthlessness in the second half. Riyad Mahrez headed in at the back post, another cross from Cancelo in the 54th minute. Substitutes Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus put the game beyond any doubt with goals late in the game.
