Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba took on social media to address the many rumours floating around, which suggested he had snubbed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the humiliating 5-0 defeat to Liverpool at the Old Trafford.
The Sun had reported that the Frenchman had shelved contract talks until the current manager was taken out of position. He tweeted a screenshot of the article by the tabloid, saying it was fake news and then put up an Instagram story where he accused the journalists of using his names for the sake of clicks.
“Tabloid press once again wants to create polemic with 100% fake news. Big lies to make headlines. Journalists who use my name to be seen when there is nothing to see.
The only reason I address this bullsh*t is out of respect to my coach, club and fans to send a clear message: the less you read these people the better you are, they have no shame and will say just anything with no basis at all,”
Pogba wrote on his Instagram story.
Among the many precarious times United have witnessed under Solskjaer, this is perhaps the worst of all, with the club getting humiliated in front of their fans, by their arch-rivals. Thousands of Old Trafford faithful walked out of the stadium around the hour mark, a very rare sight at the Theatre of Dreams.
Paul Pogba was awarded a red for his horrendous tackle on Naby Keita after he came on for Mason Greenwood in the second half. He also was culpable for losing the ball in a crucial area which led to Liverpool’s fifth on the day. This defeat has brought the mood around Old Trafford to an all-time low.
The Norwegian manager is yet to receive his marching orders from the board of directors. Antonio Conte has been touted as the replacement for Ole, whilst some other names are floating around with not much credibility to the rumour. It is believed that Conte is ready to accept the top job, but he is ready to wait until the current manager is parting ways on a positive note.
